The annual Barbos Cup, a contest for mixed breed dogs, took place in Druzhby Narodiv Park in Kyiv, on June 15. "Breed is not important for friendship," was the motto of the competition. Up to a hundred dog owners brought their pets to show their small and big talents, take part in a fashion show, find new friends or just enjoy a relaxing weekend together.
The contest program has three rounds, during which small, medium and big dogs compete for prizes. Though every dog participant could compete for the cutest contest participant award, only a few of them could showcase talents more than kisses and hugs.
The overall winner, a young mixed breed dog named Mika, proved to be the most talented canine of the weekend. Apart from doing all the basic commands like sit, lie and shake, she also successfully jumped through a hula-hoop. What’s more, Mika exhibited her ability to count, barking out as many times as there were fingers displayed on her owner’s hands.
In addition to trophies, the winners received dog food, discounts for pet health insurance and many little dog presents. However all the participants agreed that the event isn’t about winning, but the joy they get from it, as well as the chance to spend time with their pets.
