Following an anti-gay rights gathering earlier in the week, some 50 people came together in Kyiv on Saturday, May 18, to protest against discrimination and a lack of protection of the lesbian and gay community. Parliament this week shelved an anti-discrimination law that would ban discrimination in the workplace, among others, thus going against Ukraine's European commitments. Things are expected to heat up ahead of a gay pride and anti-gay march, both scheduled for May 25.
