It was the kind of a protest that the Cabinet of Ministers had never seen before.

On Sept. 1, over 100 people danced to electronic music in front of the government’s headquarters in Kyiv to demand that the state lifts the restrictions it imposed on the entertainment, events and food industries amid the coronavirus pandemic.

While many of the initial restrictions imposed to curb the pandemic have been lifted, the entertainment industry remains heavily affected. Restaurants and bars are have to close at 11 p.m., and music shows and parties are banned until Oct. 31.

The rally was organized by representatives of bars and night clubs including Closer, CHI by Decadence House, Hangover, Heaven club, Keller Bar, Otel, Qievdance, River Port, Saxon Club, SkyBar, Fifty, Forsage Dance Club, and others.
