On Jan. 25, hundreds of activists and supporters of Ukrainian nationalist parties came to the Arsenal factory in Kyiv to commemorate the Ukrainians killed in the Battle of Kruty in January 1918.
Members of a historical military club also took part in a costumed reenactment of the battle between the Ukrainian Republic forces and the Red Army near the village Kruty some 130 kilometers north of Kyiv.
Several dozen Ukrainians were killed in the battle, defending Kyiv from Bolsheviks. They included 27 students of Kyiv universities who were taken captive, tortured, and killed, allegedly as retaliation for some 300 soldiers of the Red Army that were killed in the battle.
