Krayina Mriy (Country of Dreams) ethnic festival took place in Feofania Park in Kyiv on June 27.
Founded in 2004 by Oleh Skrypka, frontman of
the popular Ukrainian Vopli Vidoplyasova rock band, the festival
presents a variety of ethnic and folk music performers from Ukraine and
around the world, as well as master-classes of ethnic crafts and art exhibitions.
Despite the high entrance fee this year, Hr 100, Feofania park
was full of music fans.
But even this time the unrest in the country’s east has spoilt a party a little bit. One of the headliners – the Serbian group Earth Wheel Sky Band,
according to Oleh Skrypka, refused to participate in the festival
‘because of political situation in Ukraine’, and announced this a day
before the concert.
