As the latest COVID-19 wave gets worse, the capital city of Kyiv has been placed into the red quarantine zone, introducing a host of restrictions on everyday life.
Unlike last year’s lockdowns, people and businesses can avoid some of the worst of the restrictions by getting a full course of vaccination against the disease sweeping through the capital.
People who want to use public transport must carry proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test done no more than three days ago. Roaming police officers randomly check people’s documents to ensure compliance. Businesses such as restaurants can only admit customers if both they and the staff are fully vaccinated.
Kyiv has 36 centers where people can get vaccinated for free; the full list is available here. Vaccines are also available in clinics and hospitals.
