With Ukraine still under quarantine to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Ukrainian government allowed food bazaars to reopen on April 29, provided they follow health and safety requirement. And on May 5, some food markets that were ready to meet the government’s standards resumed operations in Kyiv.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, there are 10 bazaars that have already reopened in Kyiv as of May 7: the Demiyivsky, Pechersky, Volodymyrsky, Lisovy, Feofanivsky, Odesky, Illis, Vygurovsky and Besarabsky food markets.

Klitschko said that all 37 of Kyiv’s markets will eventually resume operations in the near future.
