Life in Kyiv has returned to a degree of normalcy after the Ukrainian government eased some of the COVID-19 quarantine restrictions on May 11-12.
People now drink coffee and eat outside after the government allowed outdoor cafes and restaurants’ summer terraces to reopen. Some people are getting a haircut or receiving other services at beauty salons and barber shops, which were also allowed to go back to work. Others enjoy walking or sitting on benches in parks and squares that were just recently closed to visitors.
The government announced that it will extend the nationwide COVID-19 quarantine beyond May 22, its current expiration date. But it also said that May 22 may be the date for the next stage of easing restrictions.
