Lilacs blooming in Kyiv’s botanical gardens in spring gather crowds.

White, purple and dark pink flowers are common in Ukraine, with bushes in every other yard, and they bloom each year for almost a month.

However, every spring people flock to Kyiv’s two botanical gardens – the “small botanical garden,” as it’s dubbed by Kyivans, or as it goes officially — Fomin Botanical Garden, and Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the National Science Academy in Ukraine.

Visitors walk around, take pictures, and even lie on the grass enjoying the warm weather and beautiful sweet lilac odor.
