Under clear skies and sunshine, more than 3,000 racers participated in the fifth annual Kyiv Marathon on April 27. Some ran the full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers, while others opted for the half marathon, the 10 kilometer street race and the five kilometer race, which this year was in honor of the "Heavenly Hundred" of Maidan - those who gave their lives in the revolution that ousted former President Viktor Yanukovych. There was also a children's race. The event provided a brief respite for many from the political crisis and unrest that has gripped the country for months.
