Over 1,000 participants took part in Ukraine’s first Military Run held in Mariinsky Park on Oct. 10, in central Kyiv.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces organized the Military Run marathon to honor the country’s military personnel ahead of the Defender’s Day holiday held on Oct. 14.
The charity run was open to civilians and veterans alike, willing to run 5 to 10 kilometers to support Ukrainian soldiers who have been fighting against Russia-backed militants since Russia invaded eastern Ukraine in 2014.
Russia’s war in the Donbas already killed over 13,000 people and displaced at least 1.5 million civilians.
The organizers plan to donate participants’ entry fees to charity organizations dedicated to helping Ukrainian veterans.
