Muslims in Kyiv this weekend celebrated Eid al-Adha or the Feast of the Sacrifice which celebrates the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his promised son Ishmael (Ismail) as an act of submission to God's command, before God then intervened to provide Abraham with a lamb to sacrifice instead.
The celebrations at the Ar-Rahma Mosque in Kyiv started with a morning prayer and continued with a holiday fair outside the prayer temple and the traditional ritual of killing sheep as a sacrifice to God.
