People bring flowers to memorial for Ukrainian plane crash victims (PHOTOS)

Portraits of nine Ukrainian victims of the Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737-800 crash in the Iranian capital of Tehran are displayed at a memorial at Boryspil International Airport outside Kyiv on Jan. 8, 2020. All nine were crew members. There were also two other Ukrainian victims. The Ukrainian airliner crashed shortly after takeoff from Tehran, killing all 176 people on board in a disaster that struck a region already rattled by heightened military tensions.

A Boeing 737-800 passenger plane of Ukraine International Airlines crashed near the Tehran airport early on Jan. 8. All 176 people on board, including 9 crew members, were killed in the crash.

It remains unclear what caused the crash. The Ukrainian government has declined to comment on the reason for the crash until the catastrophe is fully investigated.

In the wake of the catastrophe, people brought flowers to a memorial for the nine Ukrainian crew members killed in the crash at the Boryspil International Airport outside Kyiv. Besides the crew, there were also two other Ukrainians on the flight.
