Approximately 70 protesters gathered to demand justice for slain activist Kateryna Gandziuk outside the home of Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko near Kyiv on April 25. Gandziuk was attacked with acid in July 2018 and died three months later.

The protest came as a response to the latest developments in the case against a central suspects in her killing.

After months of public pressure, prosecutors named Vladyslav Manger, head of the Kherson Oblast Council, a suspect in ordering Gandziuk’s murder. However, on April 24, Ukrainian media reported that prosecutors changed the charge from murder to inflicting serious bodily harm. That angered activists who have long been pushing for the attack to be investigated and Gandziuk’s killers to be brought to justice.
