On May 23, several protesters came to the Presidential Administration building in central Kyiv to protest against an official proposal that any peace deal with Russia should be put to a referendum. Such a suggestion was made by Andriy Bohdan, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s newly-appointed chief of staff. About a dozen protestors brought portraits of servicemen who had been killed in eastern Ukraine since Russia launched its war against the country in 2014.
