Ukrainian national festival 'Pysanky paradise' took place in Kyiv, May 2. During the festival visitors explore different decorated eggs from 40 Ukrainian cities. Poltava region pysanky were awarded as the most beautiful. Dozens of pysanky are now on display near Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theatre in Kyiv.
Totally about 128, 000 eggs were decorated for upcoming Easter holiday, that will be celebrated by all Orthodox Christians on Sunday, May 5.
Ukrainian pysanky are created by making intricate patterns on eggshells using dyes and wax.
