The artist Ola Rondiak opened her exhibition “Metempsychosis” on Jan. 15 at the Kyiv History Museum. The show works include multimedia paintings and constructed objects that speak to the interplay of Rondiak’s Ukrainian-American identity. The artist describes the liberating role of her work as using, “the paleontology of recent history as the grit to grind towards becoming free from the burden of her beloved Ukraine’s fettered, conditioning history.”
The show includes a simultaneous exhibition of Rondiak’s work in New York City. In Kyiv, the installation runs through Feb. 6.
