A few thousand people joined an animal rights march on Sept. 30 with a rally that started in Taras Shevchenko Park and ended in Sofia Square.

The activists demanded an end to using animals in circuses and dolphinariums, for medical experiments, for perfumes, and for fur farms. According to Interfax-Ukraine news agency, the demonstrators also called for the end to killing homeless animals and for the rehabilitation of animals who have experienced cruelty.

Among the slogans, according to Interfax-Ukraine: “In Ukraine, 1,750 animals are killed per day for the fur!” and “They love us, how about us?” and “In favor of a circus without animals.”
