Barcelona’s acclaimed National Museum of Art of Catalonia has provided a creative space and shelter for Ukrainian refugee artists forced by Russia’s war against Ukraine to leave their homeland. According to Segun Pepe Serra, director of the Museum, it also gives the artists a voice with which to denounce the destructive attack on their culture and heritage.

For this end, on April 7 an exhibition under the name Vesna, or Spring, was opened in the Museum. It will last for several months. It is organized by the new cultural project “Embassy of Art of Ukraine” headed by former Kyiv resident Victoria Tissot and artist Mykola Kornilov.

The Ukrainian refugee artists featured are Tetiana Yakunova, Daria Filippova, Zhenya Oliinyk, Oksana Drachkovska, Anna Sarvira and Mykola Kornilov.  If you are in Barcelona, do not miss this exhibition.

Thousands of Ukrainian refugees have already arrived in the Spanish province of Calalonia and the authorities and general public have mobilized to provide for their basic needs.  Bacelona’s famous football club – Barcelona FC – is also involved in offering such support.
