On cold and snowy weekend on March 16-17, hundreds of Kyivans got together at Pyrogovo, an outdoor ethnic museum on the outskirts of Kyiv, to mark Maslyana and say goodbye to winter. The ancient pagan holiday symbolizes the return of sun and warmth.

The guests of the museum carried a tasting of a huge variety of pancakes, sang and danced in a ring and participated in various competitions organized by museum’s workers.

The celebrations ended with the traditional ceremony of burning scarecrow made out of straw that symbolizes the winter.
