A sneak peek at the edible snails farm in Ukraine (VIDEO)

This snail farm owned by Mykola Gnatiuk, located in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, has already been breeding edible snails for two years. The snail’s scientific name is Helix aspersa Muller, whereas its common name is “garden snail.” It is highly demanded in Spain, Italy, and Asia. Last year Gnatiuk managed to raise 1.5 tons of snails on only a 0.1-hectare farm. He earned 7,000 euros in 2017. This year he plans to bring up production to 3.5 tons. Gnatiuk will not directly export his snails to Spain this year as he will sell them domestically to larger companies, which then export the snails abroad. Some of Ukraine’s largest snail farms can produce 30–40 tons of snails annually.
