Diaspora artist tells story of Holodomor through art

On the fourth Saturday of every November, Ukrainians around the world commemorate the victims of mass famines that Ukraine suffered in the 20th century. This year, on Nov. 20, the Holodomor Museum in Kyiv opened the Project Maria exhibition, one of the most well-known art projects about the 1932-1933 Soviet famine that killed millions of Ukrainians. The project is the brainchild of Candian artist Lesia Maruschak. It has been exhibited in 9 countries around the world, but has come to Ukraine for the first time.
