Every year, on the last Saturday in November, a group of dedicated devotees gather at the Kyiv House of Nature for a special singing contest. Only the singers aren’t people, but specially trained canaries. It’s a difficult, sometimes stressful and often emotional event for the participants — and probably also for the birds. The Kyiv Post takes you inside Ukraine’s avian Eurovision to meet the people who teach birds to sing.
