The International Monetary Fund has agreed on a new $5.5 billion program to boost Ukraine’s economic reforms. The three-year plan, which still must be approved by the fund’s management, was agreed upon during a telephone call on Dec. 7 between Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, and IMF managing director. At the same time, the IMF director said that that it’s crucial for Ukraine that the gains made by cleaning up the banking system are safeguarded.
