The next trilateral meeting on gas between representatives of Russia, the EU and Ukraine will take place on 9 June in Brussels. The meeting comes only a day before the 10 June the deadline, set by Gazprom for the Ukrainian side to resolve issues regarding payment for delivered Russian gas. If agreement is not reached, gas deliveries to Ukraine could be cut off as early as 11 June.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced last week that Russia may cut gas supplies to Europe in the event of unlawful reverse gas deliveries to Ukraine. Russian officials say Kyiv currently owes Moscow about 1.5 billion USD for November-December deliveries which were sold at the old price of 268 USD per 1,000 cubic meters. Russia has not received any payments for April-May deliveries at the current price of 485 USD per 1,000 cubic meters, worth an estimated 3 billion USD.
