Why ‘Kyiv,’ not ‘Kiev?’ (VIDEO)

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has started a campaign to encourage English-language media to spell the name of the Ukrainian capital “Kyiv” instead of “Kiev.” 

So what’s the difference?
