Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has proposed cancelling the mandatory technical inspection of vehicles, his adviser and representative at the Constitutional Court Olena Lukash has said.

While introducing a presidential bill on amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine on the elimination of excessive government regulation in the sphere of road transportation at a press conference on Thursday, she said: "Today President Viktor Yanukovych will submit this draft law to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine… The main innovation of this bill is the cancellation in Ukraine of the state technical inspection of vehicles and the cancellation of coupons on state technical inspection."

Lukash noted that the bill would be submitted as urgent. She said that there would be no problems" in parliament with the consideration of the document and that the document would come into force after its adoption "in a few months" as soon as the traffic police are ready for the innovation.
