Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will decide on the law on the procedure for the official use of replicas of the banner of victory after experts in constitutional law draw respective conclusions, a presidential adviser and the head of the presidential administration's main department for humanitarian and socio-political issues, Hanna Herman, has said.

"The Verkhovna Rada has the right to adopt a law on the use of only the state symbols of Ukraine. The red flag is not a state symbol of Ukraine, and therefore, the president needs the conclusions of experts in constitutional law in order to take a decision," she said live on Channel 5 late on Tuesday.

As reported, on April 21 the Verkhovna Rada resolved the issue of using replicas of the flag of victory during the celebration of Victory Day on May 9. According to the law, a victory flag can be raised on flagpoles near the national flag of Ukraine.

On May 4, Yanukovych said that he planned to sign the law. On May 5, Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn signed the document and submitted it for signature by the president. The head of state, in turn, sent the document to the Justice Ministry to get conclusions from experts.
