You're reading: Yanukovych takes 45-day rest

Deputy Presidential Administration head Hanna Herman was quoted on July 20 by the daily tabloid Segodnya as saying that President Viktor Yanukovych will spend the remainder of July and most of August on vacation in Crimea.

Yanukovych along with many Ukrainian parliament deputies left Kyiv on July 10.

Ukraine on Aug. 24 will celebrate the country’s 19th independence anniversary.

According to Segodnya, the president will reside at a state summer house near Foros in Crimea for most of his vacation. Yanukovych will interrupt his summer break to meet with visiting Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill, who is scheduled to visit Ukraine July 20-28.
