Pechersky District Court in Kyiv has rejected a motion to remove Judge Rodion Kire yev tabled by the lawyers of the former prime minister and leader of the Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Union, Yulia Tymoshenko.

The ruling said that the actions of the judge do not violate the Criminal Procedure Code, so the petition has been rejected.

Tymoshenko’s new lawyer Mykola Siry made a petition challenging Judge Kireyev. In his motion the lawyer said the judge should be removed for not admitting Tymoshenko’s defenders to the trial on July 15, despite the fact that a relevant request was filed that day, as well as for the removal of the defendant from the courtroom in violation of Ukrainian laws

The lawyer also called into question the impartiality of the judge, and his competence.
