First teaser to ‘Mavka. The Forest Song’ to be premiered in Annecy

The European premiere of the first teaser to animation feature ‘Mavka. The Forest Song’ will take place on June 15 at MIFA, the biggest global market of animation content traditionally held under the aegis of Annecy International Animation Festival.

On June 15 at 5 p.m., 4D.05 stand presenting Ukrainian animation industry will host a gathering of major global television holdings, distributors, investors, buyers and producers; they will be the first to see the teaser to ‘Mavka. The Forest Song’ animation feature created by Animagrad and FILM.UA Group (the animation release is scheduled for 2019).

2017 European Diving Championships is starting in Kyiv

June 12-18, Kyiv is going to host the first in Ukraine’s history 2017 European Diving Championships. About 140 sportsmen from 23 European countries will compete for the medals. Ukraine will be represented by 12 sportsmen.

The main venue of the competition is ‘Liko Arena’ that after being inspected by the European Swimming League (Ligue Europeenne de Natation, LEN) is recognized as one of the best sports facilities in Europe.

Entrance is free (for attending the finals one should get an invitation at the accreditation center).
Qualifying competitions will start at 10 a.m., the finals will begin at 6pm.

Canada starts celebrating the 150th anniversary of Confederation

June 11, Canada started celebrating the 150th anniversary of Confederation in Kyiv.

The holiday has already started at Francophone Day in Kostelna Street where visitors could try traditional Canadian cuisine, fish and seafood, drinks, enjoy a special ice cream with maple syrup, other typical specialties , and listen to Canadian performers such as folk-blues singer Kristine St-Pierre and band Royal Canoe.

June 20, the celebrations will continue at St.Sophia Square where a photo exhibition ‘Refugees in Canada: history of hospitality and protection’ will open.

Project of Kherson schoolgirl takes fourth place at Intel ISEF

Valeria Tyshchenko, a tenth-grader of Kherson physics-technical lyceum, ranked fourth at the International contest of young scientists, Intel ISEF, held in Los Angeles.

Valeria’s project allows generating electricity from water waves with the help of e-wave generators. The fair of scientific and technical works gathered more than 1700 students from 75 countries. This fall Ukraine is going to host the next qualifying stage of the competition at the national level. The winner will have the opportunity to present their research projects at Intel ISEF 2018.

Six Ukrainian universities included in the QS World University Rankings

Six Ukrainian universities entered the QS World University Rankings. The best position went to V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University (401-410).
It is followed by the following universities: Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (411-420), National Technical University of Ukraine ‘Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’ (501-550), National Technical University ‘Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute’ (701-750), Donetsk National University and Sumy State University (801-1000).
