According to Ukrainian parliamentarian Oleksiy Honcharenko, the car of one of the most famous local collaborators in the southern city of Kherson, Dmytro Savluchenko, was blown up on June 24. He reportedly died on the spot.

It is not the first assassination attempt to target Russia-installed officials.

An attempt on the life of the head of the regional department of the penitentiary service, Yevhen Sobolev, was made on June 18 in Kherson. He was appointed by the Russian authorities who occupied Kherson in the first days of the war. Sobolev served as head of Ukrainian penal colony No. 90 in Kherson before the war.

According to Russian state news agency TASS, he has been hospitalized and his life is not under threat.

A bomb attached to a tree exploded near Sobolev’s Audi vehicle. The driver of his car and a nearby cyclist were also injured by the blast.

Russian media outlets, citing sources, suggest that Ukrainian saboteurs organized the assassination attempt.
