The World Boxing Council (WBC) has deprived Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk of the world heavyweight belt in connection with his debut in super heavy weights, the hromadske.ua has reported with reference to the ESPN.
At the same time, the WBC awarded the Ukrainian boxer the status of “champion on vacation.” This means that he will be able to claim the WBC belt at any time if he returns to the first heavy weight.
Earlier, Usyk announced that he was giving up the WBA title in the first heavyweight and would not defend it in a fight against Russian Denis Lebedev, as he was taking up a heavyweight status.
Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas told ESPN that Usyk’s heavyweight debut would take place in September.
