President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the Ukrainian national football team on their victory over the Swedish national football team and reaching quarter-finals of the European Football Championship 2020.

“Yes, this is a victory! We are in 1/4 Euro! Incredible tension, crazy ‘fight’ in extra time and enchanting upshot in the 121st minute. It was unrealistically cool! Guys, respect – you are real fighters! Speed recovery to Besedin. Glory to Ukraine!” Zelensky wrote on Twitter.

“I knew that today, on my own behalf, and on behalf of entire Ukraine, I would write these very words, regardless of the result: we were rooting for you with all our hearts! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We are proud of you all over the country!” the President added.

He said that “it is a great happiness to write this after the victory. And to get the opportunity to write it again. After 1/4. Or after 1/2. Or maybe after the Euro final!”

“Today there was no division. It was just us today. Ukraine! A team of more than 40 million. From Uzhgorod to Luhansk. From Chernihiv to Simferopol. The team – Ukraine!” Zelensky said.

Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian national team beat the Swedish national team with a score of 2:1 and reached quarter-finals of the European Football Championship 2020, where it will play against the England national team, which beat Germany on Tuesday. The match will take place in Rome.
