U.S. tech giant Apple appears to be officially opening its premier store in Ukraine, as it has published the first job vacancy based in Kyiv on its website.

Apple is looking for a chief accountant who will be in charge of compliance and tax reporting for the Apple legal entity in Ukraine.

The job announcement was published on July 2, but came to public attention after Ukrainian software developer community DOU.ua reported on it. The vacancy is heating up rumors that Apple may open a store in Ukraine. Ten weeks ago, the company registered a limited liability company, called Apple Ukraine.

At press time, Apple could not be reached for comment. The company hasn’t officially confirmed its plans to work in Ukraine yet.

According to the vacancy, however, the person has to have five years of experience in accounting within the Ukrainian legal framework. The candidate must also speak both Ukrainian and English.

Apple’s official distributor in Ukraine, Asbis, declined to comment on when and how Apple is going to open a Kyiv office, saying that they can’t comment on Apple’s plans in Ukraine. Absis’ spokeswoman, however, confirmed that Apple will open its office in Ukraine in the near future.

Apple Ukraine LLC is registered at the IQ business center on Bolsunovskaya Street in Kyiv.

The head of the company is listed as Roman Gumenyuk. The founder of the Ukrainian representative office of Apple is Irish company Apple Distribution International Limited. When the Kyiv Post dialed the number indicated in Ukraine’s unified register of legal entities, nobody picked up.
