Google has rolled out its web service for searching for and booking airline flights in Ukraine.
Called Google Flights, the service was available to Ukrainians before on Google’s main site, but starting from Sept. 6 the U.S. tech giant launched it on the Ukrainian domain “.com.ua” offering an interface in Ukrainian and prices in hryvnias, the country’s national currency.
The online flight booking search service supports the purchase of airline tickets through third-party suppliers. It ranks flights depending on their price, and offers alternative airports and travel dates to save users money.
It also allows open-ended searches based on criteria other than destination – a user can search for flights within a range of times and a budget, and be offered various destination choices. Alternatively, a user can select a destination, and Google Flights will calculate every price for each day for the next 12 months, visualised in a graph or table. This allows users to easily spot the cheapest date to fly.
Another feature shows forecasts for ticket prices, and users can also be sent notifications when the price of a flight to a particular destination changes.
The company launched Google Flights back in 2011 to compete with services like Kayak, Orbitz, Skyscanner, and Momondo.
