Specialists of the Situation Center for Cybersecurity of the Security Service of Ukraine in September discovered and neutralized 53 cyberattacks on the information systems of state authorities, the SBI press service reported on Oct. 4.

“This happened due to direct analysis of more than 33,000 critical information security events identified in the current month,” the message said.

It said that the main types of detected cyber threats (hacker attacks) were connections to command and control servers (C&C Server), attempts to gain unauthorized access (Brute Force Attack), attacks on web applications (Web App Attack), malicious software (Malware) and others.

“On the basis of the Situation Center for Cybersecurity of the Security Service of Ukraine, an information security event management system (SIEM) operates, which monitors events in real time and allows to analyze the state of information security. Potentially critical events are directly processed by security analysts, which makes it possible to quickly identify, react and prevent threats in the national cyberspace,” the secret service said.
