You're reading: SBU says ensured cybersecurity of Rada elections

Experts of the Ukrainian State Security Service (SBU) took exhaustive measures to defend the public and state interests from unlawful cyber and other kinds of information influence during the snap Verkhovna Rada elections and the vote counting, the SBU press center said in a statement released on July 26.

“Owing to the coordinated actions together with employees of the Central Elections Commission, the cyberpolice, and the State Special Communications Service, experts of the SBU ensured an appropriate level of cybersecurity and minimized the threats to the reliable and safe operation of the unified automated information system Elections and the automated information-telecommunications system the State Voter Registry. This enabled Ukrainian citizens to exercise their constitutional rights in full,” the statement said.

According to the statement, international observers commended the SBU’s efforts in ensuring the security of the electoral process in the media and cyber space.

The snap Verkhovna Rada elections took place on July 21.
