Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, has approved the appointment of Andriy Kostin, a People’s Deputy of Ukraine from the political party “Servant of the People”, as the new Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

The prosecutor’s office in Ukraine is headed by the Prosecutor General , who is appointed and dismissed by the President with the consent of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Yuliya Paliychuk, spokeswoman for “Servant of the People” reported on her Telegram channel that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the appointment of Andrii Kostin to the position of the new Prosecutor General.

The decision was supported by an almost constitutional majority of votes, with 299 people’s elected representatives voting in favor.
