The Patriarchate of Constantinople can provide a church with autocephaly without any agreements. Hromadske reported that this decision was made on Sept. 2 at the Bishops’ Council of the Constantinople Church in Istanbul.
The Council discussed the question whether the Constantinople Church is allowed to provide autonomy, autocephaly to the church which asks for it without the consent of the other churches.
