The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament has adopted the law, which lets the country join the Metre Convention of 1975. 232 MPs supported the bill, with 226 necessary to pass.
The Metre Convention was signed in Paris in May 1975. Currently, 58 member states enjoy the membership in it, while 43 associated member states join the course of the General Conference of Weights and Measures. Ukraine has been among the associated member states since 2002.
