Another two large landing ships of the Russian Navy – Kaliningrad, and Korolyov – entered the Black Sea on April 17, according to Istanbul websites that published the photographs of their passing through Turkey’s Bosphorus strait.
The warships belonging to Russia’s Baltic Fleet are heading to Sevastopol, the websites said.
Earlier on April 17, the Russian Northern Fleet’s Alexander Otrakovsky and Kondopoga large landing ships passed through the Bosphorus strait and entered the Black Sea.
Russia’s Black Sea Fleet said on April 17 that 15 ships of the Russian Caspian Flotilla had been deployed to the Black Sea for exercises.
“The squadron of Caspian Flotilla ships has passed through the Kerch Strait under the Crimea Bridge and entered the Black Sea,” the fleet said in a statement.
On April 16, the squadron came under the Black Sea Fleet’s operational command. It replenished fuel and food supplies at the port of Temryuk, the fleet said.
“In the implementation of the plan of the reference check, crews of the crafts of the Caspian Flotilla participated in a scoring naval exercise in interaction with forces of the Black Sea Fleet,” it said.
Russia’s Southern Military District said earlier on April 17 that over 50 aircraft were involved in an exercise over the Black Sea.
