About 20 Ukrainian soldiers from Dnipropetrovsk region, who were fighting in Donbas, will undergo rehabilitation in Lithuania in 2018, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Valentyn Reznichenko has said.

“The comprehensive rehabilitation of participants in military operations is a priority task for Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. The fighters of the region are recovering in sanatoria and undergoing treatment in a rehabilitation center. We organize educational courses, sports tournaments and dancing evenings for them. European partners also provide support. Lithuania has received those wounded for rehabilitation for three years in a row,” Reznichenko told journalists on February 26.

According to him, two militaries are already undergoing rehabilitation in Lithuania, and two more will leave for rehabilitation in early March.

The soldiers injured during the armed conflict in Donbas are undergoing rehabilitation in a military hospital in Druskininkai. The medical institution specializes in injuries of the musculoskeletal system. The duration of the rehabilitation course for each fighter is determined individually.

The implementation of the project was possible through joint efforts of Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Lithuania’s Honorary Consulate in Dnipro and the Lithuanian Health Ministry. Lithuania assumed all expenses for the rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers.

Over the past three years, nearly 150 participants in Donbas fighting from Dnipropetrovsk region have undergone rehabilitation in Lithuania.
