You're reading: 27 dead, 1,072 infected with COVID-19 in Ukraine

The number of officially confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ukraine has reached 1,072 as of 10 p.m. on April 3, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Health.

Twenty-seven people have been killed by the disease, an increase of four since the morning of April 3.

Twenty-two people have recovered from the virus, adding three since the previous report on the morning of April 3.

In total, 130 new cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Ukraine since the morning of April 3.

Earlier on April 3, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has ordered that quarantine measures be strengthened in the country until April 24 to prevent the rapid spread of COVID-19.

The new measures include a ban to be in public places without face masks and gather in groups of more than two people (exceptions are envisioned for the occasions when one’s work requires it, or for those who accompany children). All parks, recreation areas, forests, and coastal areas will be closed from visitors; individual visitors can be allowed in if they are walking a pet, alone. Also, children under 14 are not be allowed in public places without adults.

Globally, COVID-19 has killed at least 58,149 people as of late April 3, and infected 1,083,211 people; 227,738 patients have recovered. The United States, Italy, China and Spain are struggling the most to curb the spread of the disease.
