More than 2,700 Ukrainian servicemen have been killed in the Donbas conflict, Ukrainian First Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Rusnak said at a conference in Kyiv on July 4.
“More than 2,700 Ukrainian servicemen have been killed and over 10,000 have suffered injuries” since the beginning of this conflict, Rusnak said.
The situation in the combat zone in Donbas remains serious but controllable, Rusnak said. “Manifestations of temporary stabilization are rooted in the agreement to cease fire on April 1, 2017, which has been reached in Minsk,” he said.
The Donbas conflict has inflicted $50-billion losses in the past three years, Rusnak said. “Energy, transport and social infrastructures have been destroyed in eastern Ukraine, and people have lost their jobs. The losses are tentatively estimated at roughly $50 billion,” he said.
