Officers of Ukraine’s National Police have detained three men suspected of placing pro-Russian billboards in Kyiv.

“During an inquiry, which included studying CCTV footage, Kyiv policemen identified three people who are reasonably suspected of placing provocative billboards in several districts of Kyiv,” the National Police press service said on Jan. 30.

The men were taken to a police station to establish all circumstances.

A criminal investigation has been launched on charges of arbitrary behavior following the placement of such billboards.

Billboards with a businessman’s photo and a Russian-language slogan reading “Russia is our main strategic partner” were spotted in Kyiv early on Jan. 30.

Police patrols and investigators were sent to the sites where the billboards had been found. City administration employees removed nine stickers from five billboards.
