You're reading: 5 of 6 members leave supervisory board of Naftogaz

All five members of the supervisory board of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, who on April 30 publicly announced the termination of their powers effective on May 14, refused the government’s proposal to extend their powers for another year, according to a press release from NJSC Naftogaz posed on May 14 evening.

“Thus, Robert Bensh, a U.S. citizen, who was appointed as a representative of the state at the end of 2020 and repeatedly appointed to the post at the end of April 2021 by the Cabinet of Ministers, remains a member of the supervisory board of Naftogaz,” the document says.

“Therefore, the supervisory board will not have a quorum to make urgently needed decisions,” Naftogaz said.

As an option for resolving the situation, the company proposes the appointment of a new supervisory board.

Naftogaz said that independent members Clare Spottiswoode (chair of the supervisory board), Bruno Lescoeur, Ludo Van der Heyden, and state representatives Yuliya Kovaliv and Nataliya Boyko are leaving the supervisory board.
