A criminal group of six people, which was organized by a logging foreman of one of the state-run forestry enterprises in Lviv region, will go to trial for illegal logging, which caused losses of Hr 1.2 million, the press service of the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) has reported.

“The investigators found that the criminal group, organized by an official of one of the forestry enterprises, from February to March 2020 carried out illegal felling of oak trees and subsequently sold them to private entrepreneurs,” the SBI said in a statement on its official website on Sunday evening.

“If their guilt is proved, the logging foreman would face a sentence of imprisonment from seven to 10 years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years. Other members of the criminal group would face imprisonment from five to seven years,” the SBI said.
