You're reading: About 60% of Ukrainians leave home daily, despite quarantine restrictions

During the last week, 90% of Ukrainians once or twice left home, despite existing quarantine restrictions, and almost 60% leave home daily. These are the results of a study conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) conducted May 24 – June 4.

“The study showed that, on average, every Ukrainian aged 18 years and older went out about 10 times a week,” the study, published on KIIS’ website, said.

Among Ukrainians over the age of 18, 37% leave home several times a day, 22% – once a day. Thus, almost 60% of Ukrainians go out at least once a day.

Some 21% left home more than once a week, and 9% – once a week.

Only 10% of respondents said they did not leave home for a week.

It is noted that women are less likely to go out than men.

Among men, more leave the house several times a day than among women (48% of men versus 28% of women).

Ukrainians aged 30-44 years left home most of all, compared to people 60 years and older, who left home least of all.

Among those who leave the house several times a day, the most are people aged 30-44 years (46%) and 45-59 years (44%). The older people are, the less often they leave home, according to the study.

The survey was conducted using the CATI method (computer-assisted telephone interviews) based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers. The sample is representative of a population of 18 years of age or older. The sample did not include Russia-occupied territories of Donbas and Crimea. A total of 4,000 interviews were conducted.

The statistical error of the sample (with a probability of 0.95 and taking into account the design effect of 1.1) does not exceed: 1.7% for indicators close to 50%, 1.5% for indicators close to 25%, 1% for indicators close to 10%, 0.8% for indicators close to 5%, 0.4% for indicators close to 1%.
