Almost 800 police officers are ready to participate in measures to restore Ukraine’s sovereignty in Russia-occupied districts in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the press service of the National Police of Ukraine has said.

“Almost 800 officers have gone through a special training program for restoring state sovereignty in occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” said a post on the National Police’s website.

According to the note, police have trained with members of the National Guard, Emergency Service and Border Service. They have studied international peacekeeping practices and the situation in Russia-occupied areas: the social and economic situation, mood of local residents and prospects for the return of businesses there.

The National Police have prepared estimates for personnel and equipment that will serve in the liberated territories in the first year after the end of the Russian occupation, as well as for necessary means – gear, vehicles, equipment, communications, etc. There are plans to create 16 police departments and units. The main task of the police will be to ensure the safety of citizens and maintain public order.
